Until December 31, 2022, the Municipalité de Clare, in collaboration with the Fishing Gear Coalition of Atlantic Canada, will be accepting end-of-life PVC-coated wire lobster mesh and wire lobster traps, fishing rope and netting at the Clare Transfer Station free of charge. The FGCAC will then subsidize the cost of having these materials collected and recycled by our partners and diverted from Nova Scotia’s landfills.

This is part of a program funded by the DFO Ghost Gear Fund, which will allow 3,434 fish harvesters in Nova Scotia the opportunity to responsibly dispose of their end-of-life fishing gear.
