Press Release
(For immediate release)
Little Brook, NS – August 11, 2025: Following the success of the Congrès mondial acadien 2024 (CMA 2024), the Municipality of the District of Clare and community partners are united in their mission to build on that momentum. The first initiative is the launch of a new event aimed at enhancing Clare’s tourism experience.
Kicking things off is a mini edition of CMA 2024’s beloved “L’Échange” cultural fair, taking place August 15–16 in the Université Sainte-Anne gymnasium in Church Point. The timing coincides with Acadian Heritage Month and the Festival acadien de Clare’s 70th anniversary, including the iconic Tintamarre parade and much-anticipated Quinzou concert on August 15.
The Expo Culturelle will feature culinary demonstrations showcasing Acadian cuisine and seafood—led by the Kilted Chef and local chefs—alongside live music, dance, cultural presentations, and a trade show with over 30 local artisans, exhibitors, and vendors.
On Saturday, August 16, the Expo celebrations continue with a Beach Bash in Belliveau Cove, presented in partnership with Les Beaux Vendredis seafood supper.
The Expo Culturelle is the first official event of the Clare Acadian Tourism Experience Initiative 2025–2027. This two-year project focuses on developing new and enhanced experiential tourism offerings in Clare to attract more visitors and extend the tourism season. It is being supported by a $300,000 non-repayable contribution from the Government of Canada through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA). The Municipality of the District of Clare is contributing $102,500, and Events Nova Scotia is also contributing $15,000. The initiative will support event creation, culinary and cultural experiences, guided tours, and live performances—highlighting the region’s rich Acadian heritage.
Quotes:
“Events like the Festival acadien de Clare, and last year’s Congrès mondial acadien, foster intergenerational connections and celebrate Acadian identity. L’Acadie is not just history, it’s a dynamic culture that continues to strengthen the fabric of our communities in Nova Scotia and beyond. By working together, governments, local businesses and community organizations are creating experiences that inspire more visitors to discover, appreciate, and celebrate the richness of Acadian culture.”
— The Honourable Lena Metlege Diab, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, and Member of Parlliament for Halifax West, on behalf of the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
"The CMA ignited a renewed sense of pride and possibility in our region. With the Expo Culturelle we’re keeping that momentum alive; celebrating who we are, showcasing our culture, and inviting more people to experience the warmth and creativity of Clare. It’s an exciting new chapter for our community."
— Yvon LeBlanc, Warden, Municipality of the District of Clare
